Where to Catch an Outdoor Concert This Summer in the Greater Sacramento Region
Summer has a fun, carefree vibe, making it the perfect time to pursue leisurely activities such as backyard barbecues, family camping, or having a picnic in the park. Another popular summer pastime is enjoying an outdoor concert, especially in the greater Sacramento region.
Many cities in Sacramento, El Dorado, Yolo, and Placer Counties host outdoor concerts in local parks during the summer months. Most are family-friendly, pet-friendly, and offer a chance to enjoy local bands from every musical genre, from rock and folk to country and jazz. Some even have food trucks and beer gardens so you can make a night of it! Check our list below for some of the most popular outdoor concerts being held in the greater Sacramento region this summer.
Concerts in the Park | Downtown Sacramento
The longest-running free concert series in the region (more than 30 years!), Concerts in the Park is held every Friday night from 6–9 in Downtown Plaza Park through June 26. It features a range of local and national touring acts in every imaginable genre. There are DJs between bands, food trucks, wine and beer, and plenty of after parties at nearby bars and restaurants.

Folk on the Farm | Camino
Held at Delfino Farms in the Apple Hill region north of Placerville, Folk on the Farm is held on various dates through September. The event brings together folk, bluegrass, Americana, and singer-songwriters in a rustic, scenic environment. There’s farm-fresh food, estate-made cider, and local wine to enjoy as well. Tickets are available for lawn seating (bring a blanket or a low-back chair), or you can reserve tables. 21+ only, no pets allowed.
Picnic in the Park | Davis
Part of the Davis Farmers’ Market, this popular event is held every Wednesday from 4–8 p.m. through August. It combines the farmers’ market experience with live bands, food, children’s activities, and other entertainment. Visitors can pick up food from local vendors, spread out on the lawn, sip local wine and beer, and enjoy local music, which ranges from folk and blues to rock and jazz.

Downtown Tuesday Nights | Roseville
Held every Tuesday from 5:30–9 p.m. through July 28, this lively community festival takes place on Vernon Street in Downtown Roseville. In addition to classic rock, country, funk, and R&B bands, there are food vendors, food vendors, and a classic car show. There’s plenty to do for children too, including bounce houses, splash zones, and a dedicated kids’ play area.
Twilight Concert Series | Folsom
Historic Folsom is the place to be every Thursday through summer. Held from 7:30–9:30 p.m., the Twilight Concert Series is a free event featuring local bands performing well-known tribute acts and original songs. You can come early and have dinner at one of the great restaurants along Sutter Street or pick up food to go and have a picnic on the lawn.
Live on the Boulevard | El Dorado Hills
Big-name tribute bands in a range of genres will take to the El Dorado Hills Town Center Thursday evenings June 11–Aug. 27 for a family-friendly concert series. Each night is a different theme, including Latin night, country night, and 80s dance party. There’s even a talent competition on Aug. 13, where participants perform alongside a live backup karaoke band. Another highlight is a performance by the Folsom Lake Symphony performing iconic movie themes on Aug. 20.

Rhythm on the River | West Sacramento
Held the last Thursday of each month through August, this free outdoor concert series is held at Drakes: The Barn from 5:30–9 p.m. Bands range from rock and samba to reggae and dance. Food and drinks are available for purchase and there is also a family fun zone with activities for kids.
Summer Concert Series | Auburn
This free summer concert series in Auburn is held under the oak trees at School Park Preserve’s Cooper Amphitheater. Held Mondays from 7–8:30 p.m. June 15–July 6, the family-friendly event features bluegrass, funk, rock and world music. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and a low-back chair or blanket.

Concerts in the Park | Fair Oaks
Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and enjoy great music and good vibes at Village Park in Fair Oaks. This summer concert series is held from 7–9 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays in June and July. Plus, there’ll be a special summer concert finale on Aug. 9 at Fair Oaks Park.
Concerts at the Carnegie | Woodland
Held on the front steps of the Woodland Library, this popular concert series features local bands of all genres, including rock, jazz, African, and traditional Irish and Scottish music. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Hot Summer Nights | Elk Grove
This summer concert series is held at Laguna Town Hall in Elk Grove Friday nights in August from 6–9 p.m. On Aug. 14, there will be a special talent competition for adults and kids alike and on Aug. 29, there’ll be a “dive-in” concert at the Wackford Aquatic Complex.
