The Greater Sacramento area has more than three dozen dog parks, from urban hangouts in the center of town to more rural spots with plenty of room to roam. These designated areas allow you to have your pooch off-leash, many have separate areas for large dogs and small dogs, and some even have playground equipment just for your canine besties.
We rounded up some of the region’s best dog parks to ensure your next outing is the best one yet. Following is a county-by-county guide to some of the best dog parks in the greater Sacramento area.
Dog Parks in Yolo County
Woodland Dog Park | Woodland
Located in Woodland, this fenced dog park has plenty of space for your dogs to run around. There’s plenty of seating, and even a picnic structure so you can make a day of it. There are separate areas for small dogs and large dogs and waste bags are provided.
Walnut Park | Davis
Walnut Park is an unfenced dog park in Davis where you’ll find an off-leash exercise area directly east of the tennis courts.
Slide Hill Park | Davis
Located on the south end of Slide Hill Park, this unfenced, off-leash dog park in Davis has an exercise area for your dog. The play area is spacious, with plenty of grass and shade trees to keep you and your pup cool.
Toad Hollow Dog Park | Davis
The Toad Hollow Dog Park in Davis offers a wide-open, grassy dog play area with seating and several good areas for shade. Please be aware that this park occasionally closes during the winter after heavy rains.
Summerfield Park | West Sacramento
On the north end of the nine-acre Summerfield Park in West Sacramento, you’ll find two fenced dog play areas separated for large and small dogs. Each one offers plenty of room to run, benches and water fountains.
Sam Combs Park | West Sacramento
Sam Combs Park in West Sacramento offers 4.5 acres of play for families, including dogs! The facilities off-leash dog area offers two fenced sections for large and small dogs complete with picnic tables, mature trees and water fountains.

Granite Regional Park | Sacramento
Located on the opposite side of Ramona Ave. from the majority of Granite Regional Park, this fenced dog park on the east side of Sacramento offers a space complete with mature trees, benches and water.
Glenbrook Park | Sacramento
The new and improved off-leash dog park at Glenbrook Park in the College Glen neighborhood of Sacramento offers a one-acre fenced park for small dogs and a separate fenced park for large dogs.
The Bark Park | Sacramento
Located in front of the Sacramento County Animal Care Shelter near Rosemont, the Bark Park offers two acres of off-leash play area with separate areas for large and small dogs. Both fenced areas have drinking fountains, benches and shade trees.
Sutter’s Landing Park | Sacramento
Nestled along the American River, Sutter’s Landing Park is a huge open space, and 2.5 acres of that are reserved for dogs. The dog park has separate areas for large and small dogs, shade canopies, water fountains, benches, picnic tables and more. Plus it has access to the American River if your dog wants to take a swim.
Truitt Bark Park | Midtown Sacramento
This beautiful dog park in Midtown Sacramento offers separate areas for large and small dogs, public art, lighting, shade trees, differing terrain and a community plaza. On the north end of the park, you’ll even find a community garden, and it’s centrally located near shopping and restaurants.
North Natomas Regional Park | North Natomas
North Natomas Regional Park in Natomas is an off-leash park for all seasons. The area offers a half-acre small dog park, a two-acre large dog park, washing stations and drinking fountains, large shade trees, shade canopies with benches, a designated agility zone and a water play zone.
Jacinto Creek Park | South Sacramento
Located in an 11-acre community park—Jacinto Creek Park— in the Valley Hi/North Laguna area of south Sacramento, his off-leash play area is fully fenced and offers picnic tables, shade trees and different terrains to play on.
C-Bar-C Park | Citrus Heights
The gorgeous dog park at C-Bar-C Park in Citrus Heights offers a large, open area for play complete with shade trees, benches, dirt and grass areas, and water fountains. There is a smaller fenced section for small dogs as well.
Carmichael Park | Carmichael
The Canine Corral at Carmichael Park in Carmichael is open from dawn to dark and is supported by volunteers. The spacious off-leash play area offers separate fenced areas for large and small dogs as well as seating, shade trees and various terrains.
FIDO Field Dog Park | Folsom
Located at Cummings Family Park in Folsom, FIDO Field Dog Park is Folsom’s off-leash dog park that offers differing terrain, benches, waste bags and water fountains, plus separate fenced areas for large and small dogs.
Elk Grove Park | Elk Grove
This large regional park in Elk Grove offers 122 acres of outdoor play for dogs and people alike. The fenced dog park is complete with mature shade trees, benches and agility equipment.
Laguna Community Park | Elk Grove
This 16-acre community park in Elk Grove offers a fenced dog play area on the west side complete with benches, shade trees, water and open grass areas.
Morse Community Park | Elk Grove
The off-leash dog park at Morse Community Park in Elk Grove offers a spacious area complete with picnic tables, benches and water fountains.

Paul J. Ryan Memorial Park | Cameron Park
Formerly known as Hacienda Dog Park, this is the only off-leash dog park in Cameron Park. It sits beneath the oaks, with shaded walking trails.
Railroad Park Dog Park | El Dorado
Located in the historic Railroad Park in the town of El Dorado, this dog park opened in 2024. It has separate areas for small and large dogs, a shaded seating area, and doggie waste bags. The kids can play at the nearby playground or take an excursion on the seasonal train.
El Dorado Hills Community Park | El Dorado Hills
West of New York Creek in the wooded area alongside the athletic fields, this dog park in El Dorado Hills has convenient access from the parking areas. There are separate, fenced areas for large and small dogs. Plus there’s plenty of shade beneath the oaks as well as doggie water fountains.

RRUFF Rocklin Dog Park | Rocklin
Located in Johnson-Springview Park, RRUFF Dog Park in Rocklin is one of the area’s most popular dog play areas. It offers separate sections for small and large dogs as well as a smaller fenced area for special needs dogs and their owners. It can also be used for service dog training, obedience training and the occasional rescue group adoption days.
Ashley Off-Leash Dog Park | Auburn
Located within Ashford Park in a quiet neighborhood in Auburn, this off-leash dog park features a fully fenced dog play area. There are shade structures and benches, plus a waterfall feature just for dogs! Nearby is a year-round creek, playground, BBQs, and a small pond.
Bear Dog Park | Roseville
Named for the police department’s first K-9, Bear Dog Park has a dog-friendly playground/agility area. There are separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, even a dog wash station.
Auburn Ravine Dog Park | Lincoln
This spacious off-leash dog park sits in the center of 10 acres of natural landscape, complete with a seasonal salmon creek. There’s a side for small dogs and one for large dogs, with plenty of seating and shade trees.

Top Ten Dog Park Tips
- Avoid bringing young children to the dog park.
- Ensure your dog is under voice control at all times.
- Do not bring small dogs into big dog areas or vice versa.
- Do not bring unspayed/unneutered dogs to the dog park.
- Do not bring food or treats to the dog park. It can cause aggression for food-driven dogs. Similarly, it’s a good idea to leave the toys at home.
- Do not bring dogs who are sick, unvaccinated, or those that have fleas or ticks.
- If your dog shows any sign of aggression, leave. Do not risk an injury to another dog or a person.
- Be aware of what your dog is doing at all times. Don’t get distracted by your phone or conversation with other dog owners.
- Know your dog. Dogs who are not socialized or are aggressive toward other dogs should not go to the dog park.
- And lastly, ALWAYS clean up after your dog. Doggie waste bags are provided at many dog parks.
