Lyon Real Estate: A “Cancer Champion”
More than 200 Lyon Real Estate agents, staff, and their families took to the streets on Saturday, Sept. 14 to help raise money for the first-ever Cancer Champions Walk-Run-Roll event.
Held at River Walk Park in West Sacramento, the fundraising event supports the non-profit Cancer Champions, which helps cancer patients and their families through their cancer journey. The event comprised a 10K-, 5K-, and 1-mile race. Participants could also participate virtually. Team Lyon raised nearly $30,000.
Pat Shea, Lyon Real Estate CEO, said he was proud to be involved in the inaugural event, as Lyon has a long history of giving back to the communities it serves.
“As a community-focused company, we are committed to helping those in need,” he said. “Cancer Champions helps thousands of people in their time of need and we are proud to be involved in their efforts. Participating in community events further strengthens our mission of compassion and service and we look forward to joining in again next year.”
Cancer Champions supports those impacted by cancer by providing personalized fitness, nutrition and mindset guidance. No matter where a patient is on their cancer journey — from recent diagnosis to undergoing treatment to post-treatment — they can help. Research has shown that exercise, nutrition and a positive mindset can benefit not only those with cancer, but also their families and care teams.
With certified experts in the fields of fitness, nutrition and mindfulness, Cancer Champions offers specialized exercise videos, breathing and meditation practices, nutritious recipes, and personalized coaching. Proceeds from the Cancer Champions Walk-Run-Roll go to uplifting current members as well as providing comprehensive resources to new members seeking support every single day.

Community service has long been the hallmark of Lyon Real Estate. In fact, the Lyon Cares Foundation has donated more than $1.3 million to dozens of local non-profits since its founding in 2015. Lyon’s annual Community Service Day invites agents and staff to volunteer in hands-on projects for area nonprofits, and the annual Coat Drive which kicks off October 1st and runs through the month provides gently used coats and winter clothing to those in need.
