Where to Find Homemade Gifts in the Greater Sacramento Area

Sure, getting the latest electronic device or the hottest toy of the year is exciting, but sometimes, a unique, locally made gift is more meaningful. Besides, the holiday season is a great time to show some love to local artisans and small business owners, who depend on your support to keep their ventures thriving.

The greater Sacramento area has dozens of spots where you can pick up local, handmade items, from jewelry to home décor, clothing to food items and everything in between. After all, our region has a long history of supporting local makers and artists. So no matter what you’re looking for or who you’re shopping for, you’re bound to find it in a shop nearby. Following are some of our favorite places to pick up handmade gifts in the greater Sacramento area.

 

Warehouse Creative | Old Sacramento

Warehouse Creative is a charming shop in Old Sacramento that showcases everything local. Locally made jewelry, candles, bath and body products, clothing, tea towels, wood crafts and planters are just a few of the many things you’ll find. Plus, they hold regular workshops so you can learn crafting skills like resin pouring and macramé.

 

Sparrow 5 | Roseville

Upcycled, recycled and repurposed art is the name of the game at Sparrow 5 in downtown Roseville. Driftwood signs, garden art, furniture and home décor are all showcased here. Think totebags made from old military tents, metal sculptures made from old spark plugs and clocks made from wine bottles. Plus, they have art classes.

 

Panic & Swoon | Placerville

Panic & Swoon is a curated gift shop located in downtown Placerville. In addition to quirky gifts and vintage items, it also carries a large selection of handmade goods. Jewelry, bath and body items, clothing, prints, planters and many other goods handcrafted by local makers are available.

 

Superbum Plant Co. | East Sacramento

Though known for their houseplants and vintage items, Superbum in East Sacramento also hosts dozens of local artisans. Goods include handmade jewelry and bath products, pillows and art prints, and macramé and stained glass. They also host occasional popups featuring local food vendors, plus there’s an adjacent record shop.

 

The Artery | Davis

This artists collaborative in Davis has been around for almost 50 years! It showcases all types of media, from ceramics and wood to fiber arts and metal. In other words, you can pick up bowls, cutting boards, shawls and jewelry for everyone on your list.

 

The Constellation Marketplace | Downtown

Located in the Arthouse on R Street in Downtown Sacramento, it’s only fitting that this curated shop features the work of local artisans and makers. Candles, jewelry, home décor, clothing, art prints, planters, books — you name it, chances are they have it. Plus, everything in the store is made locally.

 

Make Local Habit | Grass Valley

This shop in Grass Valley is all about shining a light on local artists and makers. More than 200 local artists are featured, offering everything from tea to body care, kid’s clothing to pottery. With so many vendors, you’re sure to find whatever you’re looking for!

 

Kulture | Woodland & Old Sacramento

With locations in Woodland and Old Sacramento, Kulture is THE place to go for local gifts and Mexican imports. Colorful hand-painted ceramics, hand-painted hats and belts, and hand-crafted jewelry ­— all with a Latin vibe — are just a few of the things you’ll find. Plus, they carry unique imports from Mexico, Peru, Guatemala and Columbia.

 

Art on the Divide | Georgetown

Housed in a historic brick building, this curated gallery in Georgetown, in northern El Dorado County features the work of more than a dozen local artists. Items include pottery, glassware, jewelry, woodcraft, leather goods and much more, in addition to paintings, photography and sculptures. One-of-a-kind ornaments are also available just for the holidays.
