Share the Warmth: Lyon Real Estate Kicks off 10th-Annual Coat Drive
For the 10th consecutive October, Lyon Real Estate will turn its 17 offices throughout the greater Sacramento region into collection sites for new winter coats, jackets, sweatshirts, hats, scarves, mittens and other winter clothing and accessories.
This year, Lyon has expanded its collection drive to all winter clothing items in an effort to put forth as much warmth as possible. While in the past, Lyon has accepted gently used coats, the company is changing tactics during COVID and will only be accepting items that are brand new with tags on for health reasons. Winter items of all sizes and types can be dropped off between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31. Each office will donate the clothing to non-profit organizations in their local communities to be shared with those in need this winter.
We are committed to continuing the coat drive this year as the need grows for much-needed resources in our communities — Lyon Real Estate president Pat Shea.
Since its inception in 2010, Lyon’s Coat Drive has collected and donated 70,276 coats to our local communities. The locations of 17 offices throughout greater Sacramento helps make the drive a success each year, with offices in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties. Coats and accessories can be dropped off during normal business hours.
Non-profits that have received and distributed winter coats through Lyon Real Estate’s Coat Drive include Summitview Child and Family Services, STEAC (Short Term Emergency Agency Committee), Loaves & Fishes, Wind Youth Services, Sierra Child and Family Services, Mustard Seed School, Salt Mine Food Closet and North REC Center, to name a few.
Despite the region’s relatively mild winters, coats are a necessity for staying warm and dry. Coat donations from drives such as Lyon Real Estate’s help to increase awareness and generate substantial donations to assist those in need in local communities.
“We are committed to continuing the coat drive this year as the need grows for much-needed resources in our communities,” said Lyon Real Estate president Pat Shea. “Whether you’re in the downtown area or in El Dorado Hills, there’s a Lyon office near you that will be accepting new warm winter clothing throughout October.”
