Local Businesses with Curbside Pickup in the Sacramento Area

There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has upended our lives. Kids are out of school, workers are at home, and many businesses in the greater Sacramento area have temporarily shuttered their doors. Small businesses are especially hard hit, as shelter-in-place ordinances have limited all but essential errands and fears over transmission are keeping consumers home.

Thriving small businesses create not only a strong economy, but also a strong community. In the greater Sacramento area, small businesses are quickly adapting to meet the needs of their communities while at the same time keeping their customers and employees safe. Many restaurants, for example, now offer delivery and curbside pickup options. Others restaurants have transformed into mini grocery stores, selling eggs, milk, flour, meat and other ingredients that would otherwise go to waste.

In the retail arena, many brick-and-mortar shops in the Sacramento area have moved to online and telephone sales. Some offer free shipping, local delivery and even curbside pickup. For those businesses that aren’t able to shift to a new business model, there are still ways to support them. You can buy gift cards or service vouchers to use at a later date, once shelter-in-place recommendations are lifted. You can also follow and like small businesses on social media, and post positive reviews to get the word out and build momentum.

“Shop local” has never been more important than now. Following are local retailers in and around the Sacramento area that could use your support.

Delivery and curbside pickup is nothing new to big-name supermarkets. But sometimes you want something a bit fancier. Many gourmet food shops in the Sacramento area are now offering delivery and curbside pickups as well. Craving a gluten-free baked goodie? Order from Pushin’s Bakery in Midtown or Roseville and have your cookies or cupcakes ready for you at the curb. Andy’s Candy Apothecary has moved online with free local delivery for candy orders over $25. The Allspicery, located in Downtown Sacramento, has also shifted to online-only orders of its gourmet spice blends.
