The 9 Best Urban Wineries in the Sacramento Area

It’s no secret. Northern California produces some of the best wines in the world — especially in regions like Napa and Sonoma Valley. While the wine-rich area is certainly worthy of a day (or weekend!) trip, there is no shortage of wine available right in our backyard.

Explore the many incredible wineries in Sacramento or not far from the city, so you can go on a tasting adventure without traveling too far from home. Plus, these convenient locations mean you can use Uber or Lyft to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for your entire party! While these wineries are near the busyness of the city, you’ll feel like you’re away from it all as you sip on decadent wines and take in scenic vineyard views.

Revolution Wines is the only fully operational urban winery and kitchen in the city. This family-owned and -operated business is focused on Old World winemaking and tasting, features a fresh seasonal menu, and offers personalized food and wine pairings. The winery’s farm-to-fork and farm-to-glass emphasis truly sets Revolution Wines apart. Their wines are made with fruit from Yolo Vineyards, Aparicio Vineyards, Gandyhill Vineyard, and Sutter Ranch Vineyards. Revolution Wines crushes and ferments the grapes, bottles the wine, and offers tastings of the finished product — all in their boutique winery-bistro in Midtown.

This family-owned winery is situated in the Sacramento Delta just south of downtown in Clarksburg. In addition to operating as a complete winery, Scribner Bend Vineyards is a popular wedding and special events venue, as the grounds provide an idyllic setting for any occasion. In fact, it’s one of our favorite unconventional places to get married in the Sacramento area! Scribner Bend wines are estate grown and bottled, and they don’t leave the property until purchased! The addition of their barrel and crushing facility in 2007 allows Scribner Bend Vineyards to complete the entire wine-making process on site. Their production is constantly changing as new trends emerge in the wine industry, but their commitment to producing award-winning wines remains the same.

Stop by for a tasting Fridays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Their white wines are aged in steel to bring out crisp, aromatic wine with mineral notes, and their reds are aged for over 18 months in French oak barrels, producing deep and distinct wines. This boutique winery also produces hand-tended grapes to supply to world-class wineries throughout Napa, Sonoma, and elsewhere in the state.
