Christmas Concerts Galore
Whether it’s carols, hymns, or the just simple sounds of holiday joy, there are plenty of opportunities to get into the spirit of the season via live music and performances.
The month starts off strong with performances by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Sleep Train Arena Wednesday, December 2. Also December 2, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra takes the stage at the UC Davis Mondavi Center. Later that week at the Mondavi Center is the “utterly cosmopolitan yet utterly unpretentious” Pink Martini with a holiday-themed performance, December 5.
Also December 5 is the Joy is Everywhere, a collection of holiday music from around the globe performed by the Sacramento Children’s Chorus. The concert features more than 150 children and takes place at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Sacramento Guitar Society celebrates with its own holiday concert that evening at the Sacramento State Music Recital Hall.
The Capitol Rotunda will serve as a breathtaking venue for the Sacramento Valley Concert Choir, who will sing at the Holiday Lights: Music to Brighten the Capitol, December 5.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy whoops it up for a swinging holiday show December 11 at the Crest Theatre downtown. The Memorial Auditorium hosts the Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra December 12. The Home for the Holidays performance includes a candlelit procession and audience sing-along.
The Placer Pops Chorale & Orchestra presents a Holiday Homecoming December 12 & 13 at Folsom’s Harris Center for the Arts. The Grass Valley Center for the Arts welcomes winter December 18 with the Windham Hill Winter Solstice Celebration.
