Your Guide to Catching an A’s Game in Sacramento
It’s time to play ball! The A’s are coming to Sacramento!
In case you missed it: The team formerly known as the Oakland A’s (or Oakland Athletics) will be playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento prior to settling in their permanent new home of Las Vegas in 2028. That means Sacramento gets three years of major league baseball right in their own backyard.
The A’s will be playing the Chicago Cubs during their home opener March 31, with games scheduled through the spring and summer. They’ll be sharing the stadium with the Sacramento River Cats, which have their first home game March 28 against the Albuquerque Isotopes.
From little league games to the major leagues, baseball is the quintessential American pastime. But not everyone has had the opportunity to catch a live game. If you’re new to the sport, or just new to Sutter Health Park, we’ve prepared this handy guide that covers everything you need to know, from buying tickets and parking to what to eat and drink, plus some insider tips.

When to Go to an A’s Game
A’s games are scheduled on various days throughout the week through September 28. You can check the A’s schedule online or search for single game tickets. There are midday games and evening games, which begin at 7:05 p.m. Some games offer special giveaways and promotions where you can snag free A’s merchandise such as T-shirts or bobbleheads. On select Friday and Saturday nights, be sure to stick around for the post-game fireworks show.
How to Get A’s Tickets
Single game tickets are available for purchase on the A’s website or at the Sutter Health Park ticket office. The ticket office is open Mon.–Fri. 10 a.m.–2 p.m. through March 27. After March 28, it will be open only on game days: 2 p.m. through the end of the 6th inning for evening games, and 10 a.m. through the end of the 6th inning for day games. The price of lawn tickets start at around $25 depending on the opposing team and the day of the week. Some seats can be several hundred dollars, especially for games with big-name teams such as the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees. There are discounted tickets available for the military, first responders, and students. Although season tickets for 2025 are sold out, you can get on a waiting list for 2026 season tickets. Some individual games are already sold out, but you can find resale tickets on SeatGeek, the official resale marketplace for MLB.
It’s also helpful to download the MLB Ballpark app, where you can manage digital tickets, view schedules, and see interactive ballpark maps.

Five Fun Facts About the A’s
- A’s vs. Athletics. Because the A’s are in transition, they do not have a city name associated with their team. Their official name is simply the Athletics, or the A’s for short. Presumably, they will be renamed again after the move to Las Vegas.
- Mascot. Stomper has been the A’s mascot since 1997, a jolly elephant wearing the team’s signature green and gold. He is one of several mascots used by the team over the years, including Harry Elephante and Charlie-O the mule. The elephant goes back to the early 1900s, when an opposing team manager told the A’s owner he had a “white elephant” on his hands.
- Nicknames. The Athletics have had several different nicknames throughout the course of their 120-plus year history, including the Swingin’ A’s, the Green Elephants, and the Green and Gold.
- History. The A’s were founded in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics baseball club. In 1955, the team left for Kansas City, Missouri before their move to Oakland in 1968.
- World Series. The A’s have won the World Series nine times: in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989. They’ve also won 15 American League pennants and 17 West Division titles.
