What’s Coming to Sacramento in 2025?

It’s only January, and already 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year in the Sacramento area. New events and new attractions, coupled with existing annual events, means there’s something for everyone on any given weekend! So whether you’re into sports, music or food, check out these things to do in Sacramento in 2025.

Summer of Baseball

In case you haven’t heard, the A’s are coming to Sacramento. Well, West Sacramento, to be precise. Previously known as the Oakland A’s, the team will play at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento before its permanent move to Las Vegas in 2028.

What this means for baseball fans is several years of Major League Baseball right in their own backyard! The home opener will be March 31 against the Chicago Cubs, with games scheduled throughout the summer. Although season tickets have already sold out, single-game tickets have not yet been released, but they are expected to go on sale by the end of January.

Meantime, the Sacramento River Cats will continue their 2025 season as per usual. Their single-game tickets are now on sale, with opening night March 28 against the Albuquerque Isotopes. They also have games scheduled throughout the summer and offer special deals and discounts. Plus, they put on a great post-game fireworks show on Saturday nights!

Extreme Sports

If you’re a fan of extreme sports, you’re in luck: The X Games are coming to Sacramento! Now in its 30th year, the X Games hosts competitions among the world’s leading action sports athletes — think skateboarding, BMX, and motocross. The X Games will be held each year for three years and will also feature a full lineup of live musical performances. This year, the games will be held Aug. 22–24 at Cal Expo.

All-in-One Entertainment Complex

Can’t decide between a pint of beer or a game of pickleball? A great meal or a live concert? Soon, you’ll be able to do it all at one location. Roseville Junction is a multi-million dollar entertainment complex comprising Electric Pickle, an 8,000 square foot venue with pickleball courts and outdoor games, plus a restaurant and an outdoor music venue. There will also be a 300-seat beer garden anchored by Fieldwork Brewing Company. Although the exact opening dates are yet to be determined, it is expected to open sometime this summer.

Live Music Venue

As any music lover knows, Sacramento has a shortage of mid-sized music venues. Luckily, a new venue will be opening sometime this year in midtown. Channel 24, located at R and 24th streets, will have a two-level theater, a club with VIP seating, an open-air patio, and a bar with food options. It’s part of Another Planet Entertainment, the group behind the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. Although no opening date has yet been announced, it is expected to open in 2025.

Music Festivals

While there are many new and exciting things to do in the Sacramento region this year, there are also many tried-and-true events that are worth mentioning. Sacramento will continue its goal of bringing more live musical events to the region. The summer is chock-full of music festivals, including the following:

  • Holo Holo. Scheduled for Sept. 27-28 at Heart Health Park at Cal Expo, this all-ages music festival features island and reggae music. Although the lineup has not yet been announced, more than a dozen artists from across the globe will take to the stage over the two-day event. Weekend passes, including VIP passes, are on sale now.
  • Aftershock. California’s largest rock and heavy metal music festival will also take place at Discovery Park Oct. 2–5. Although the lineup is not yet finalized, four-day festival passes are on sale now. They also offer VIP experiences and hotel packages.
  • Golden Sky. This annual event, held at Discovery Park in mid-October, is all about country music! Although the lineup has yet to be announced, the event welcomes the biggest names in country music. Tickets and weekend passes will be on sale soon.

Food (and Wine, and Beer) Festivals

Being that Sacramento is the farm-to-fork capital of the nation, it comes as no surprise that 2025 will have plenty of food, wine, and beer festivals on the docket. Following are some of the major events where you can keep your bellies full.

  • Foodieland. This multicultural food festival features every type of cuisine imaginable, from pupusa to lumpia, yakitori to quesabirria. There’s also shopping, games, and live entertainment. It will be held May 9–11 at Cal Expo.
  • Farm-to-Fork Festival. Sacramento’s signature celebration of all things food and wine, this month-long event in September comprises a street festival, live music, and food and wine tasting. Tickets are not yet on sale.
  • California Brewers Festival. Held at Discovery Park, this annual fundraising event features the top beermakers, cider makers and kombucha producers from across the region. There’s a beer relay, food trucks, and local artisans selling beer-themed merchandise. It will be held Sept. 13.
  • Mandarin Festival. This annual event in Placer County has been paying homage to the mighty mandarin for more than three decades. You can meet local growers, sample mandarin-infused food and drinks, and browse the works of local artisans. It will be held Nov. 21–23 in Roseville.
