Hugging the western shore of Folsom Lake in Placer County, Granite Bay is an upscale community just east of Roseville known for its family-friendly neighborhoods and high quality of life. Coupled with its many sprawling lakeside estates, it’s no wonder some of the region’s most affluent residents call Granite Bay home, including professional athletes, actors and musicians. With its proximity to outdoor recreation, world-class restaurants and abundance of shopping, there’s no shortage of things to do here. Swimming, boating, paddling and fishing are popular activities, or you can enjoy the miles and miles of shaded trails within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Further upstream there are spots for whitewater rafting and camping.

Situated at the southern tip of Granite Bay, the club is a certified Audubon International Signature Sanctuary with a championship 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Kyle Phillips. In fact, it’s home to two of the best farm-to-table restaurants in the Sacramento region: Hawks, a refined American eatery with outdoor seating; and Farmhaus, featuring seasonal dishes crafted from local ingredients. Other good options in Granite Bay include Hazumi Sushi Bar, which has innovative takes on traditional Japanese fare, and Vaiano Trattoria, serving rustic Italian cuisine.

It’s no secret that the Sierra foothills are home to some great wineries, and the area surrounding Granite Bay is no exception. Twin Rocks Winery has a bucolic country estate where they produce everything from sparkling rosé to primitivo. They also serve farm-to-table bites and host live music. You can also sample local wines at Mount Saint Joseph Wines, which has a quaint tasting room in the heart of town. If you’re more of a craft beer person, Granite Bay Brewing Company is a good bet. They serve several varieties of brews on tap, and have trivia, food trucks and live music.

Granite Bay is home to a number of wonderful parks, including Granite Bay Community Park, which offers baseball fields, soccer fields, playgrounds, a BBQ pavilion, picnic areas, and bicycle/pedestrian trails. Other popular parks in Granite Bay include Miners Ravine Nature Reserve, Treelake Park, Douglas Ranch Park, Sterling Pointe Part, and Ronald L. Feist Park, which collectively offer a number of playgrounds, picnic areas, tennis courts, and soccer and baseball fields.

Like any suburban community, Granite Bay has all the services and amenities you need for day-to-day life — supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations, hardware stores and the list goes on and on. It’s also less than 15 minutes to the major shopping centers in Roseville, such as the Westfield Galleria, The Fountains at Roseville and the Creekside Town Center. Granite Bay also has its share of smaller boutiques and charming shops, including Michaelangelo’s gift and home store, Wit & Whimsy Toys, Capitol Cellars wine shop, and Bushnell Gardens, a nursery, home & gift shop.
