Trending Thanksgiving Recipes

Food trends come and go. From the Jell-O salads of the 1930s to fondue in the 1970s (not to mention fat-free everything in the 1990s), there’s always something new on the culinary horizon. Thanksgiving food trends are no different, and although the traditional turkey has been the centerpiece of most celebratory meals, the turducken and tofurkey also had their time in the spotlight.

But trending Thanksgiving recipes are different. These are recipes that are popular with online communities. Some of them are modern takes on traditional dishes, others are unique ideas that are simply fun! In any case, they are sure to impress your guests. And as a reminder, we should all feel thankful we aren’t still eating jellied turkey salad or cranberry candles this Thanksgiving.

Butter Board

Haven’t heard of a butter board? Essentially, it’s butter, or a collection of compound butters, smeared on a wooden serving board charcuterie-style, served with warm, crusty bread. You can top the butter with anything savory or sweet, such as roasted garlic, lemon zest, honey, edible flowers — you name it! You can also do the same thing with soft cheese.

Cranberry Pecan Goat Cheese Balls

How cute and festive are these savory bites? They’re also a breeze to make — just goat cheese, dried cranberries, pecans and herbs.

Thanksgiving Sangria

Apple butter and maple syrup are the secret ingredients in this easy fall sangria recipe. Add your fruit of choice, brandy, white wine and ginger beer and you have a sweet and sparkly Thanksgiving drink that packs a flavor punch. You can also omit the booze and add apple juice for a non-alcoholic version.

Spiced Apple Cider Margarita

Margaritas aren’t typically considered a Thanksgiving drink, but when they’re made from spiced apple cider, they’re the perfect choice for your holiday meal.

Creamiest, Cheesiest Mac and Cheese

It’s hard to resist one of the best comfort foods of all time: mac and cheese. This version is a cold-weather dream, and perfect for your Thanksgiving table.

Air-Fried Turkey Breast

Many of us have seen the horror stories of the deep-fried turkey fad. This one puts a modern — and safe — spin on that dark time in Thanksgiving dinner history by cooking a boneless turkey breast in an air fryer. The result is a tender, juicy interior and a flavorful, crisp exterior.

Pumpkin Pie Bites (and Bonus Truffles)

Shhhh….! You don’t have to be a baker to impress your guests this Thanksgiving. A store-bought pie and a bit of ingenuity means everyone will think you spent hours in the kitchen. Don’t worry — your secret’s safe with us.

@macy.blackwell Pumpkin Pie Bites! 🥧 All you need is a store bought pie, and a cookie cutter! Then you can turn the leftover pieces into pumpkin pie truffles! 1. Mash up leftover pie in a bowl 2. Roll up 1” balls 3. Freeze for 10 minutes. 4. Melt some white baking chocolate, and dip balls in it. 5. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon sugar before chocolate firms up. 6. Stick back in the freezer until ready to serve! (Don’t add whipped cream until ready to serve, or let guests add their own! It does melt down after 10-15 minutes.) #pumpkinpiebites #thanksgivingrecipes #thanksgivingfood #holidayfood #holidaybaking #holidaydesserts ♬ Thanksgiving Theme – Vince Guaraldi Trio
