Spring Events to Get Excited About in the Greater Sacramento Area
The weather is warming up and life is slowly returning to normal, meaning it’s time to get out and have some fun! Many community events that had been on hold due to the pandemic are back on the books and momentum for them is stronger than ever before. From Easter celebrations to brew fests and everything in between, following are some upcoming spring events in the greater Sacramento area to get excited about.
Hoppin’ & Huntin’ at Hagen | Rancho Cordova | April 9
This free event at Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova features an egg hunt for the kiddos. Hunting areas are divided by age, and there will also be music and a Kid Zone with games like a “Hopstacle” course.
Elk Grove Brewfest | Elk Grove | April 15
The popular event in Elk Grove celebrates all things beer! It features more than 60 breweries, cideries, and wineries, as well as local food trucks and retail vendors. There will also be live music and several DJs, as well as lawn games.
Spring Eggstravaganza | Fairytale Town | April 16 & 17
This family-friendly event at Fairytale Town in Land Park is specially designed for the littlest ones. There’s an egg hunt, prizes, arts and crafts, and photos with Peter Cottontail. There’s also a puppet show held at various times throughout the day.
Air Park Eggstravaganza | McClellan Park | April 16
Amelia Bearheart will be on hand at the Aerospace Museum of California in McClellan Park to host a spring-themed event for children. The event features games, activities, spring-themed crafts and treat stations.
Passport to the Great Out There | El Dorado County | April 22–24
If a little sipping is on your spring to-do list, this wine tasting event in El Dorado County may fit the bill. More than 20 wineries are participating in this passport weekend, which features food and wine pairings. There will also be live music, art demonstrations, historical tours, and winemaking talks.
Doggy Dash | Land Park | April 23
There’s no reason your best friend can’t get in on the fun this spring! The annual Doggy Dash is a 2K/5K walk in William Land Park that’s not just fun, it helps animals in need by raising funds to support the Sacramento SPCA. Following the walk, the Bark in the Park Festival will feature a flying disc contest, pug races, and other pup-related activities.
Gold Country Pro Rodeo | Auburn | April 23–24
Bull riding, bucking broncos, roping and mutton busting will be on tap during this two-day western extravaganza in Auburn. There will also be pre- and post-rodeo parties featuring live music; freestyle motocross; and barrel racing.
Sac Mac & Beer Fest | West Sacramento | April 23
Sacramento Beer Week is April 23-May 1, and it kicks off with this event at River Walk Park in West Sacramento. It features over 40 local breweries, as well as gourmet mac & cheese prepared by the best chefs in town. There will also be a mac & beer pairing competition
Kids Art Festival | Fair Oaks | April 30
Bring the whole family to celebrate all things art and creativity at this fun event in Fair Oaks. There will be make-and-take art stations, an art show, dance and music performances and food trucks to keep those bellies full.
Whole Earth Festival | Davis | May 6–8
Now in its 53rd year, this family-friendly event in Davis focuses on art and conservation. There are outdoor art galleries, an experiential space, and a kids space with crafts, games and activities. There are also musical performances, dance, and of course food and artisan vendors. Best of all, it’s a zero-waste event with a focus on sustainability and conservation.
Beer & Ballet | Sacramento | May 6–21
Who says ballet has to be fancy? This popular event hosted by the Sacramento Ballet features performances choreographed by dancers, and each attendee will receive a craft beer (or a glass of wine or soft drink). This year, there will also be food trucks for a quick bite.
California Honey Festival | Woodland | May 7
This annual festival in Woodland celebrates the humble honey bee, which is crucial to our food supply. To that end, there are exhibitions and demonstrations on pollination and beekeeping, a pollinator garden and a honey tasting lab. There is also a mead wine and beer garden, food trucks and live music to keep the whole family entertained.
Art, Beer & Wine Festival | El Dorado Hills | May 7–8
More than 80 artists from the greater Sacramento area and beyond will showcase their work at this annual event in El Dorado Hills. In addition, local wineries and breweries will be pouring unlimited tastings, and there will be food vendors and live music.
Grilled Cheese Festival | Sacramento | May 14–15
Ooey, gooey grilled cheese is the star attraction at this popular event in Sacramento’s Southside Park neighborhood. The event features unlimited grilled cheese sandwich samples, craft beers, regional wines and desserts, plus live music. Saturday’s event is 21+ only, and Sunday’s event is family-friendly and features a kids’ zone.
Rocklin Community Festival | Rocklin | May 19–22
Carnival rides, live music, food trucks, and a beer and wine garden are on offer at this community event in Rocklin. The Midway of Fun will have rides for all ages, and there will be vendor and craft booths to browse.
