Lyon Cares Foundation Gives $95,000 to Nonprofits Through Big Day of Giving
Lyon Real Estate is pleased to announce that 18 remarkable charities received grants from the Lyon Cares Foundation through the Big Day of Giving held May 7. A program of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, the Big Day of Giving is the culmination of a year’s worth of community building and collaboration that connects nonprofits to the community at large.
The Lyon Cares Foundation of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation gives grants to non-profits throughout the greater Sacramento region. Ninety-seven percent of Lyon agents and employees contribute to the foundation out of their escrows and paychecks. Grants are voted on by agents and staff in our 17 offices, and each office gives two $5,000 grants each year. Since 2015, Lyon Cares has given more than $725,000 to local nonprofits.
Lyon made the decision to “fast-track” 2020 grants by giving out more than 60 percent of the funds, or $95,000, by early May due to the significant need many in the community face right now.
Pat Shea, Lyon’s president said, “These organizations are dedicated to helping those in need in our greater Sacramento community, and we are proud to be a part of these important efforts.”
The Big Day of Giving recipients include: the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, Wellness Within, Zaphia’s Family House, Stanford Sierra Youth and Families, CASA, Seniors First, Bradshaw Animal Shelter, Orangevale Food Bank, Placer SPCA, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society/Jesuit High School Marauder campaign, Camp Kesem at UC Davis, St. John’s Program for Real Change, Auburn Interfaith Food Closet, City Year Sacramento, Sierra Chaplaincy, Elk Grove Food Bank, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society/Woman of the Year Martha Bernauer.
