Why We Buy

We all buy homes for different reasons – as lives, families, and priorities evolve and the economy ebbs and flows, housing needs change. According to the National Associations of Realtors, the top three reasons Americans are buying today is the opportunity to build equity, the desire for a stable environment, and the freedom to choose a specific neighborhood.

The 2015 National Housing Pulse Survey polled 1,000 adults in the nation’s 50 largest metro areas. More than eight in 10 Americans say that purchasing a home is a good financial decision, and 68 percent say now is a good time to buy a home.

“Home ownership is part of the American dream, and this survey proves that dream is alive and thriving in our communities,” says Chris Polychron, president of NAR.

The survey also showed that 71 percent believe they could sell their house for what they paid for it.
