Quick and Easy Improvement Tips for Sellers

As we ease out of summer, it’s becoming more of a buyer’s market. But don’t worry, there’s still time for sellers who may have found their homes becoming a bit stagnant on the market. ABC News’ Real Money Team spoke with designer Christiane Lemieux, who shared some inexpensive upgrades for sellers looking to get the most bang for their buck.

The most affective and low risk upgrade? A neutral palette. A freshly painted white room allows buyers to picture themselves in the space, Lemieux said.

Other improvements with impact included sprucing up the entrance. According to studies, healthy trees and shrubs can boost home value by 17 percent. Minor kitchen and bathroom facelifts (new faucets, cabinet door handles, toilet seats, and a fresh coat of paint) can reap thousands of dollars in return.

Lastly was simply clearing up the clutter and doing some extra cleaning – creating more space. The payoff for a little less mess? Up to $2,000.
