Yearly Inspections – Often Forgotten, Always Important

A house is a home, security, and investment. So it’s worth protecting and maintaining. Inspections shouldn’t be just a mandatory buyer/seller duty. It’s a yearly responsibility.

Owners should take time at least once a year to get past the paint and gutters and give roofs, foundations, and potentially expensive repairs a good hard look. *Things to look at and be wary of?

•  Grade around the foundation
• Loose or cracked asphalt around the driveway and garage
• Monitor the chimney and roofline for levelness, crumbling or wood rot
• Crags and clogs around gutters and downspouts
• Missing shingles
• Stains that suggest mildew or mold
• Open spaces in backsplashes (allowing unwanted moisture)
• Loose rails and boards on decks and porches
• Bulging or sagging retaining walls
• General deterioration
