So Much To Do In September

It’s still summer in Sacramento, the foothills, and the surrounding areas. And while the end is near, there are still plenty of events and festivities to help keep things lively well into the holidays. Below are a few not to be missed.

Sac Greek Festival, Sept. 4-6   Celebrating its 52^nd year, this festive gathering celebrates culture, food and tradition in a village-style atmosphere at the Sacramento Convention Center. Live music, dancing, cooking demos, travel language tutorials, games, and authentic food from celebrity chefs will be featured at this family-friendly event.

Chalk it Up Festival, Sept. 5-7   This free, all-ages event aims to bring out the awe and artist in everyone. Live music, arts and crafts, food, and a beer garden get everyone in on the fun at Sacramento’s Fremont Park. Proceeds go to local arts organizations.

Country in the Park, Sept. 13    Cal Expo welcomes Little Big Town, Ashley Monroe, Jason Michael Carroll, and Thompson Square for an evening full of some of country’s hottest hits.

Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, Sept. 19   Fair Oaks Village comes alive with carnival games, arts and crafts, pancake breakfast, craft brew tasting, live music, yummy food, and a Cluck ‘n Crow Contest.

Colfax Railroad Days and 150^th Celebration, Sept. 12 -13   This little gem of town nestled in the foothills embraces its history with an educational and entertaining family experience. Guests can get up close and personal with nearly every aspect of railroading.

Folsom Live, Sept. 26   Also known as Folsom’s Favorite Night Out, the event features an impressive lineup of dozens of bands on indoor and outdoor stages on Historic Sutter Street.

Farm to Fork Festival, Sept. 26   Designed to showcase and celebrate where food and drinks come from, this festival brings foodies and epicureans face to face with the people who are feeding the region and the world. Taking place on the Capitol Mall, this free event features food, wine, beer, live music, cooking demos, and a kids’ zone.

Draft Horse Classic and Harvest Fair, Sept. 24-27   This equine event in Grass Valley is a local and long-time regional favorite. It attracts hundreds of guests each year with majestic draft horse performances, breathtaking competitions, and the opportunity to get up close to these beautiful and graceful animals. A free-admission harvest fair takes place in conjunction with the classic at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
