Broadband Boosts Home Value
So many factors contribute to a home’s value and given today’s technology-driven world, it’s no surprise that Internet speed and access can play an integral part in potential buyers’ priorities.
A recent study by the University of Colorado and Carnegie Mellon University concluded that fiber-optic connections, the fastest type of high speed Internet available, can add $5,537 to the price of a $175,000 home. The effect of available high speeds on home sales was most prevalent in rural areas where high-speed connections and options may be limited.
A 2014 study by the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater found similar results, in that high-speed access could add $11,815 to the value of a $439,000 vacation home in Door County, Wisconsin.
