Spring is the Season for Baseball

April brings with it many things – wildflowers, fishing, Easter, spring break, Tax Day, and Earth Day, but for many the most anticipated event is opening day. The River Cats take the field April 9 and so starts a season of events and promotions for the entire family.

Whether you’re an avid baseball fan or simply enjoy the sounds and smells of the game, there’s a reason for everyone to make their way to Raley Field for any of the 72 scheduled home games. Every Friday and Saturday game is followed by fireworks and every Sunday kids under 12 can run the bases. Monday is baseball bingo.

The River Cats also serendipitously play at home on Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day; and Labor Day – all of which will include special ticket and picnic options. Other season highlights include Zombie Night, May 2; Princess and Pirate Night May 23; Bark in the Ballpark May 24; Star Wars Night July 10; and Superhero Night September 4.

Giants fans may want to make a point of coming out May 1 for a Giants World Championship replica ring; May 22 for a Giants World Champions t-shirt; June 19 for the Hunter Pence “Fence Catch” bobblehead; July 31 for the World Champions banner; and August 21 for the 2014 Postseason MVP Madison Bumgarner bobblehead. Opening Day for the Giants, by the way is April 13.
