Create a Buzz With Curb Appeal
Spring and summer are typically the stronger seasons to sell. One of the many steps to putting home on the market is to enhance its curb appeal. It may be one of the most important steps in getting your home market ready, as it’s going to be the basis of potential buyers’ first impression and get them in the door.
There are a dozen ways to freshen up the exterior appearance of a home. The first though, is to look at the whole home – from the fence and yard to the windowpanes and doormats. Not just the house itself. Here are a few of the many elements to look at and upgrade.
A Fresh Coat of Paint – Lean toward neutral tones and create a clean, refined look.
Big Projects – If you have the time and money, replace or upgrade siding, gutters, railings, and windows.
Fix the Cracks – Re-seal the driveway and tend to any major cracks.
Outdoor Art – Birdhouses, birdbaths, wind chimes, decorative pots, or a small fountain boosts a home’s a charm.
Trim – Make a small but eye-catching statement with shutters, accent trim, or new molding around the door.
New Door – An easy way to create a whole new look. Refurbish an older detailed door or incorporate a bold or complementing color.
Small Touches – Even if you only have a few dollars, you can still make an impact with a new doormat, house numbers, or mailbox.
Greenery – If you can’t upgrade flowerbeds or the landscaping (both huge impressions), trim them back to keep them clean and manicured. Spruce up empty areas around the yard and porch with potted plants.
Clean Up – If nothing else, create a calm and inviting setting. Prune back all the bushes and overgrown plants and mow the lawn. Stain the deck and powerwash the walls.
