Sacramento – A Slice Above the Rest
Italy may be a world away (more than 6,400 miles to be exact) but that doesn’t mean Sacramentans aren’t more than capable of creating their own authentic pizza. The Sacramento Business Journal recently tallied the reviews of 158 pizza restaurants in the four-county area to come up with an impartial ranking of the top 30 pizza places.
The list plays no favorites, as the rankings analyzed the ratings on Yelp, Urbanspoon, and TripAdvisor. Do online reviews outweigh personal taste and experience? Of course not, but who has time (and metabolism) to sample the menus of 158 restaurants?
So which pizzeria consistently won the hearts and taste buds of online reviewers across the board? Paesanos on Capitol Avenue in midtown. It earned its place at the top of the list with a perfect 100 out of 100 score.
While a good number of the top restaurants are located in the midtown/downtown region of Sac, there was representation from numerous neighborhoods and communities.
The article noted that the top rated are all well established eateries with a developed following, with even a chain or two making the list. Other restaurants that made the list include Dominick’s Italian Market and Deli in Granite Bay (80/100), Linda’s Pizzeria in Citrus Heights (80.6), Todo Un Poco in Elk Grove (90.3), BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in Natomas (91.6), Taste of Tuscany in Roseville (92.2), Woodstock’s in Davis (92.9), Heyday in Placerville (93.5), and Chicago Fire Pizza in Folsom.
