Studio Movie Grill Gives Rocklin the Dinner and a Movie Experience

The small city of Rocklin already had a claim to fame when it came to movie theatres. Its Blue Oaks 16 is consistently rated among the top theatres in the region, with stadium seating, a birthday room, and first-run and independent films. But the commerce-rich, family-friendly ‘burb nestled between Roseville and the foothills also just welcomed Studio Movie Grill.

SMG, as it refers to itself, shows first-run, wide-release and independent films, as well as alternate and family programming. The twist, however, is that you can order dinner from its American Grill Menu and/or drinks from a full-service bar. Guests need only press a button at their seat and discreet, specially trained wait staff delivers the order.

In addition to beer and cocktails, the menu offers an array of margaritas and adult-spiked milkshakes. A kids’ menu consists of the basic mac & cheese, chicken tenders, pizza, quesadillas, and mini-cheeseburgers, while the general menu includes everything from ceviche lettuce wraps and wings to St. Louis ribs and Asian shrimp salad.

Special series and lineups include a Superhero Series, Girls Night Out, Family Rewind, and Special Needs Screening, where flicks are shown with the lights up and volume lowered and children are free to move around and talk.

The theatre opened in the Rocklin Commons shopping center in December. The Texas-based company has 19 locations throughout the country, but Rocklin is its first California opening.
