Southside Park Welcomes South’s Pure Southern Cuisine

Southside Park recently saw the opening of South, the aptly named and highly anticipated eatery. Located at 2005 11th Street, the family-run restaurant strives to be the best simply at their own food.

With a menu focusing on simple, soulful, contemporary Southern cuisine and a website called weheartfriedchicken.com, it’s not difficult to see (and taste) where their inspiration and loyalties lie – unpretentious and traditional Southern comfort food. Foodies and simple food lovers alike will be returning again and again to sample the fried green tomatoes, short rib debris po’ boy, a mess o’ spicy bar-be-qued tiger shrimp, and chicken and Andouille sausage gumbo. Sides include skillet cornbread, pickled okra, cheese grits, and red beans and rice.

So the fact that they’re located in Southside Park near downtown may just be a serendipitous event – one that local residents will benefit from for many meals to come.
